What we are up to

We havent been up to much. We have gone on a few hikes that have been really pretty and relaxing for us. The other day I babysat my friend's daughter and it was so much fun. We went swimming, to the grocery store, made brownie's and went on a hike! It made me so excited for when we finally have our own kids. It was fun to see Gavin playing and joking around with her, he will be a cute dad. It will be nice to have kids and more meaning to life than just work. Well here are some pics, you will get more this weekend since Jen is getting married... Gavin's sister.

How to "Press On" when you feel like you can't

I'm not saying I am depressed or that my life is crumbling before my eyes, all I'm saying is we all go through hard times. Usually when you are right in the middle of those trials, it is easy to feel hopeless. Tonight for family night we needed a little boost, so we read a talk called "Press On" by Joseph B. Wirthlin in the 2004 General Conference. It is such a great talk and not only gives you the boost you need, but some helpful hints to put things back in perspective for you.

"I have lived long enough to experience firsthand many of the challenges of life. I have known exceptional people who have endured severe trials while others, at least on the surface, seem to have lived charmed lives.
Often those who struggle with adversity ask the question “Why did this happen to me?” They spend sleepless nights wondering why they feel so lonely, sick, discouraged, oppressed, or brokenhearted.
The question “Why me?” can be a difficult one to answer and often leads to frustration and despair. There is a better question to ask ourselves. That question is “What could I learn from this experience?”
The way we answer that question may determine the quality of our lives not only on this earth but also in the eternities to come. Though our trials are diverse, there is one thing the Lord expects of us no matter our difficulties and sorrows: He expects us to press on."

There is this amazing couple in my ward that spoke on Sunday. The wife said something that has stuck with me. She said that Heavenly Father will bless us with our trials until we learn from them what we need to. Sometimes we have no idea what it is we are supposed to learn, but I know that as we are patient, and endure with faith, Heavenly Father will soon help us learn.

I know there are many that suffer heartbreak, loneliness, pain, and setback. These experiences are a necessary part of the human experience. However, please do not lose hope in the Savior and His love for you. It is constant. He promised that He would not leave us comfortless.

When we face challenges in our lives, we are comforted by the words of the Lord in the 58th section of the Doctrine and Covenants:
“Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation.

“For after much tribulation come the blessings. Wherefore the day cometh that ye shall be crowned with much glory; the hour is not yet, but is nigh at hand.”

This talk was so perfect for Gavin and I. I dont want to say brutally honest, but it definately set us back on track. I hope that if any are going through some rough times right now, click here and take a sec to read it...
I love the church and the help it gives us when we need it most

Hiking The M

The Missoula valley is so beautiful and green with all of this rain we have gotten lately... although the river 10 ft. from my house is about to flood! There is no better way to see how pretty the valley is than to hike up to the M above the University and take a gander. So, Gavin and I decided to go and do just that. Diesel and I actually tagged along with Gavin went with the scouts.

I was the last one to the top, not that I am out of shape.. well, a little. But Diesel was huffin and puffin! The first 3 switch backs he was dragging me the whole way and after that I was dragging him. It was nice when we got to the top, and the hike actually wasnt that bad!

I had Gavin walk him down, and Diesel wanted to sprint the whole way. There were a few deer that ran across the trail, I had never seen one that up close before. Oh we got a new car since ours was totalled in my wreck. I dont have any pics of it yet but its a toyota yaris and it is awesome. Tiny for sure but 40 mpg!! Nothing can beat that!
